The Klipspringer, often referred to as the "rock jumper," is unique due to its specialized hooves adapted for rocky terrains and its ability to stand on tiptoe on ledges as narrow as a coin. Its coarse, dense fur, which appears speckled, also aids in camouflage among rocky outcrops.
Native to eastern and southern Africa, the Klipspringer predominantly resides in rocky terrains, mountainsides, and outcrops where they can expertly navigate and escape from predators.
Unlike many antelopes, Klipspringers typically form monogamous pairs that defend territories. It's rare to see them in larger groups outside of a mating pair and their offspring.
Klipspringers are browsers, feeding on a variety of plants including leaves, flowers, fruits, and even succulents, which provide them with much-needed water in arid regions.
