There are mainly four species: the Arabian Oryx (Oryx leucoryx), the East African Oryx (Oryx beisa), the Scimitar-horned Oryx (Oryx dammah), and the Gemsbok (Oryx gazella). Each species has its own unique range and distinct physical characteristics.
While Oryx were once widespread across Africa and the Arabian Peninsula, their habitats have shrunk. Today, they are found primarily in the grasslands, deserts, and arid regions of East and Southern Africa, with the Arabian Oryx found in the deserts of the Arabian Peninsula.
